When the Lights Go Down

I found this song called, “When the Lights Go Down” a few weeks ago. It’s sung and was written by Joseph Habedank.

An article I read online about this song said that this, “is a song that deals with integrity and character, and even though it is written from a very personal place, it can easily apply to everyone when we think of the lyrics.”

I like the part in the chorus where it says, ” will I be like who I sing about? When the lights go down.” This question popped into my head when I was listening to it, “When hard times come am I really like who I sing about or am I just singing the words without thinking? Or I could say, am I living the way that I expect my 5th grade Sunday School class (that I help teach in) to live like? Am I being honest, respectful or dependable the way I would like my class to live?

It reminds me of the verse in James 1:20 which says, “But be ye doers of the Word and not hearers only; deceiving your own selves.” Are we as Christians being just hearers of the Word and not being doers? May I encourage you to become doers of the Word.

When the Lights Go Down
Verse 1
Each night I take my place I stand, I sing, I praise,
And every single face is starring back at me.
But do they believe that it’s just a show well deep in my heart I know, how expectations grow
When you claim the King to be your everything.
Chorus
When the lights go down, when there’s no song no sound,
where can my heart be found,
What kind of man am I gonna be
When the stage Is bare and nobody’s there
Will it still be my prayer
To live the life they all think I lead
And will I be like who I sing about
When the lights go down.
Verse 2
When the applause has died and every tear been cried
Emotions are held inside no one else can see
I feel so unworthy
When all the music fades into yesterday
There still a secret place calling out to me
Oh I know how this seems…
Chorus
When the lights go down, when there’s no song no sound,
where can my heart be found,
What kind of man am I gonna be
When the stage Is bare and there’s nobody’s there
Will it still be my prayer
To live the life they all think I lead
And will I be like who I sing about
When the lights go down ( I want to be like who I sing about
When the lights go down)
