Cast Down But Not Destroyed

This week is the National Quartet Convention, where thousands of people come and listen to southern gospel music all week. Groups like;the Perry’s, Legacy Five, Greater Vision and many more come and sing at the convention. As I mentioned in my post entitled “Through the Night” I got the opportunity to go to the convention last year. But this year I’m watching it through the webcast on the NQC website.

Last night was the opening night. As I was watching the Tribute Quartet sing a song called, “I Will Rise.” The ending of the song says,
(Even when I’m cast down I’m not destroyed
For the One who holds my heart restores my joy,
There’s assurance in the promise of His love,
My Deliverer will always lift me up!!)
I will rise from the depths where life has brought me,
To the heights where God has taught me how the mighty eagle flies,
High above all the storm clouds gather,
Trials never last forever,
I will rise!

As I listened to those words I was reminded of some verses I read a couple days ago. I was in Second Corinthians chapter 4 verses 8 and 9which say, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;” Also
2 Corinthians 4:18 says, “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal”
Areń’t those verses encouraging? They were to me because sometimes I get perplexed and think this trial will last forever. That it will never end and there won’t a light at the end of the tunnel. But when I read God’s Word it says that all these trials are temporary and “the things which are not seen are eternal.” So may I encourage you that whatever trial or circumstance you’re going through can be perplexing but it’s temporary. Praise The Lord trials don’t last forever! Heaven is eternal!

I Will Rise
Verse 1
Though the cares of life have grown so hard to bare,
And it seems no peace and comfort can’t be found
,I will trust God’s word and all that’s written there,
And remember that He picks me up every time I’m down.

Chorus
I will rise from the depths where life has brought me,
To the heights where God has taught me how the mighty eagle flies,
High above all the storm clouds gather,
Trials never last forever,
I will rise!

Verse 2
If the Savior could endure the pain He barred when He died for me on crucifixion day,
Then I can carry on for He suffered so much more,
I’ll find my courage in the words
I can almost hear Him say,

Chorus
I will rise from the depths where life has brought me,
To the heights where God has taught me how the mighty eagle flies,
High above all the storm clouds gather,
Trials never last forever,
I will rise!
