He’s  Been Faithful To Me!

Heard this song called, God’s Been Faithful, for the first time late Sunday night. As I listened to It I was reminded of the many times God has been faithful in my life.

God’s Been Faithful
Verse 1

When the Lord found me wandering aimlessly,

Lost and lonely, hope was gone,

There He saved my soul,

Gave me peace untold,

He’s been the Rock that I’ve depended on,
Chorus

God’s been faithful, He’s been faithful,

No matter the struggle, whatever my need,

In my darkest hour,

There’s healing power,

God’s been faithful, faithful to me.
Verse 2

Through the years He’s been my unfailing friend,

Every longing satisfied,

On the mountain high, through the desert dry,

He’s brought me through my trials every time,
Chorus

God’s been faithful, He’s been faithful,

No matter the struggle, whatever my need,

In my darkest hour,

There’s healing power,

God’s been faithful, faithful to me.

I recalled going through a time of uncertainty in my life back in January—depressed and uneasy about which direction my art, business, blog, social life, and future was headed. Now living with Dystonia isn’t easy at times, but it’s life; it must go on. A bad day with Dystonia feels like a cold, dreary day in January.

The past few months have been tough because my Botox injections started wearing off the end of January. Being tight day after day can get exhausting. My eyes get squinty so much I can hardly see at times (like the squinty face emoji 😫). During this time I do my best to try not to get sad and depressed. If I feel up to it, I paint and listen to encouraging music. But I was tired of painting and blogging. I hardly texted anyone.

One night while reading my Bible I read Psalm chapter 42. It described exactly what I wanted.

In Psalm 42, verses 8 and 11 really comforted me.

Psalm 42:8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night this song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

Psalm 42:11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

After I read that, I prayed,

God, I need Your joy and peace. I want to be happy again. I’m tired of being depressed and empty inside. I’m so tired of not having the desire to paint. You have given me a gift as a artist. Create in me a desire to love this gift and to use it for your glory. Help me find a purpose in life.

It wasn’t right away, but gradually I began to be joyful and started to enjoy painting once again.

So as I was listening to this song God reminded me He is faithful not only when I’m uncertain but also when I’m joyful. I love the line in the second verse that says, “He’s brought me through my trials every time.”

I’m so thankful that God doesn’t leave us when we’re going through a trial. God is alongside us through every trial we face. Step by step—even in our darkest hour. God is immutable; He never changes. He is always faithful even when we are not.

Last week, as I was reading in Psalm 77, I was reminded of God’s faithfulness once again. In chapter 77 Asaph writes about a problem he has. We don’t know what the problem is, but he writes about how he can’t even sleep because of the problem. Then he asks 6 different questions to the Lord in verses 7 through 9,

Psalm 77:7-9 Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?

Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?

Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

We never hear the answers to those questions but Asaph did get an answer, and his response to the answer is amazing.

Psalm 77:10-12 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.

I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

The Lord has taught me so many lessons during the past few months. He’s teaching me that I must trust and depend on Him no matter what I face, and to be patient and rest in His loving arms and know that He’s taking care of me.

Are you going through a trial or circumstance in your life? Has your view on life been blurred by devil? The devil wants you discouraged and defeated. Don’t let him win. May I encourage you to rest in the arms of the Lord. Remember that God’s been faithful and will be faithful no matter what struggle comes your way.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
