Encouraging others to deepen their true, abiding joy in Christ
Are You Calmly Resting In The Lord?
Breathing. We don’t think about it much.
In 2010 it was estimated that “on average, a person at rest takes about 16 breaths per minute. This means we breathe about 960 breaths an hour, 23,040 breaths a day, 8,409,600 a year. Unless we get a lot of exercise. The person who lives to 80 will take about 672,768,000 breaths in a lifetime.”
Breathing is a gift from God.
Genesis 2:7 says, And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
I began to notice I was having trouble breathing a few years ago. I thought it was just something that would go away. But when I mentioned it to my doctor last year he told me I have dystonia in my diaphragm. So that’s wonderful!
It’s just another thing to add to the list of things I depend on the Lord for every day.
I have a hard time exhaling more than inhaling. I take medication that somewhat helps, which is a blessing. I’m not the only one with dystonia who struggles with breathing. I’m in a couple of dystonia Facebook groups and several people have trouble breathing. To know that I’m not the only “one” struggling encourages me to live life like I always have.
Do I worry my breathing will get worse over time? Yes. I’ve thought about it. If it does, guess what? God will still be the same God in 5 years. 😳 Isn’t that amazing! 😃 I love how God will always be faithful when I’m not always faithful to Him.
Sometimes trusting the Lord with the small things in our lives can be the hardest. Because we can “handle” the small things in life—or so we think. Are we willing to humble our hearts and ask for God’s help with small things we go through day in and day out?
I heard this song a few weeks ago and just fell in love with it. I listen to it almost every day when I get up. The song is entitled, “Calmly Resting in the Lord.” I hope it will be a blessing to you.
